The New Zealand wine industry has been the star of the world wine market in the last decade, although quantities are tiny by world standards New Zealand has a huge awareness amongst the major wine buyers and consumers of the world. Wine is produced in New Zealand in ten major wine growing regions spanning latitudes 36° to 45° South and extending 1,600 km (1,000 miles). They are, from north to south:
